Altergy Delivers First Fuel Cell System Ever Purchased by the State of California

SACRAMENTO, California – April 1, 2005 – Altergy Systems announced today the purchase and delivery of an Altergy Freedom Power fuel cell system to Caltrans, the State of California’s Department of Transportation.

The Altergy Freedom Power system provides backup power to stationary and mobile applications, and enables Caltrans to demonstrate the capabilities of hydrogen fuel cells.

“California leads the nation in adoption of clean energy regulation and technologies,” stated Steve Prey, coordinator of the Caltrans Energy Conservation Program and Chair of the Governor’s Energy Policy Advisory Committee. “As a result, we have had the opportunity to review virtually all the fuel cell technologies on the market. After careful review, we selected Altergy’s Freedom Power products. These are the first fuel cell systems that we have seen that are designed to be mass produced.”
