Altergy Appoints Joseph E. Schmidt Vice President, Corporate Development

GOLD RIVER, California – July 11, 2005 – Altergy Systems Chief Administrative Officer Terry Carlone announced today the appointment of Joseph E. Schmidt as Vice President, Corporate Development. In this newly created position, Mr. Schmidt will oversee Altergy’s strategic and operational plans and analysis of capital expenditures, develop strategic alliances, and contribute to the Company’s market development efforts.

In his new role at Altergy, Mr. Schmidt leverages 14 years’ business and corporate development experience at manufacturing and technology companies. His background includes managerial positions in strategic planning, collaborative development, financial planning, product development and sales.

Prior to joining Altergy, Mr. Schmidt served as Vice President, Business Development at Ventria Bioscience; Director of Business Development for CyberCrop; Director of Strategic Planning & Business Development for a Koch Industries subsidiary; and in auditing and trading roles at Deere & Company and Cargill, respectively.

Mr. Schmidt has a B.A. in Accounting and Finance from Wartburg College and an M.B.A. in Marketing and Finance from the University of Chicago.
